When the clock starts
Your order is complete, and the clock starts, when all four are done:
- You've paid.
- You've filled in the
SS-4 form and it passed our checks. - You've uploaded your Articles of Organization.
- You've signed on screen.
Your order page and the confirmation email show the exact deadline in US Eastern time and in your own time.
What counts as a business hour
The clock runs only while the IRS international phone line is open: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 11:00 pm US Eastern time. Weekends and US federal holidays don't count. That's 17 business hours on a normal weekday.
| Order complete (ET) | Deadline (ET) |
|---|---|
| Tuesday 10:00 am | Wednesday 5:00 pm |
| Friday 6:00 pm | Tuesday 8:00 am |
| Saturday, any time | Tuesday 1:00 pm |
If a US federal holiday falls in between, the deadline moves by one business day.
If we miss it
- We refund your $24 in full to your original payment method. You don't need to ask.
- We keep working and deliver your EIN at no cost. If the IRS line is closed or the agent asks for a fax, we fax your signed
SS-4 and send you the EIN when the IRS replies, usually in about four business days.
What the guarantee doesn't cover
The guarantee covers delays on our side and on the IRS phone line. It doesn't apply while we're waiting on you, for example when:
- the information on your
SS-4 is wrong or doesn't match your Articles, and the IRS can't issue the EIN until you correct it; - the IRS finds a conflict with your LLC's name or an existing EIN and needs something from you;
- we've asked you a question and are waiting for your answer.
In those cases we pause the clock, tell you exactly what's needed, and restart it once you've replied. If your LLC turns out to already have an EIN, you get a full refund under our refund policy.
